Doula - Grace Collins.

about me

Grace Collins - DoulaMy name is Grace Collins. I am a recognised birth doula with doula UK and live with my young family in Caversham, North Reading on the Berkshire South Oxfordshire borders. I am passionate about empowering mothers to achieve positive birth experiences, through natural ways and I love the saying “a better birth for a better world” I have supported mothers in natural births including water births, VBACs, multiples (natural births), and caesareans.

I came to “doulaing” from a background in engineering, which had left me searching for a fulfilling career even though I had worked and travelled with international companies in North American, Europe and the Middle East. Luckily, my life took a 180 degree turn after the birth of my second born. With the support of my lovely doula, I managed to have a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean) and was able to bounce back and heal faster. I managed to catch up on some badly needed sleep and we transitioned smoothly into life as a bigger family. I knew then that I had found my calling and subsequently trained as a doula with Nurturing Birth in October 2012.

I am also a breastfeeding helper with a national organisation and also volunteer at my local breastfeeding support drop in. Together with my friend Tessa, from Tessa Yoga,,  I co-lead the Positive Birth Group in the Reading area.
